Implantology

Replacement of missing teeth, with three-dimensional planning carried out at the clinic.

Implantology

About the treatment

The dental tomography (CBCT) equipment is installed at the clinic. The diagnosis and planning of an implant, a complex extraction or a surgery can therefore be carried out in the same appointment.

There is no need to travel to an imaging centre, book again or wait for the report. In situations of pain, this difference is decisive.

Case 1 · panoramic radiograph

The patient came to our practice in pain, with generalised infections in the abutments of fixed tooth-supported rehabilitations. As this was a case in which, beyond the infections, the teeth of the upper arch were severely compromised both aesthetically and functionally, the decision was to remove them entirely. In the same surgery it was thus possible to extract the teeth, place five implants and fit an immediate fixed prosthesis on implants. In the lower arch, the choice was to control the periodontal support, and rehabilitation of the posterior sector with single implants is planned.

Case 2

Multiple missing teeth and, in the remaining teeth, extensive caries with the consequent fracture of some of them meant that the indicated treatment was tooth extraction with immediate placement of a screw-retained upper prosthesis on implants and a removable mucosa-supported lower prosthesis. With this therapeutic option the patient did not have to adapt to a removable rehabilitation, nor find herself without any teeth, which could have been psychologically harmful.

Case 3

A patient with a previous cemented implant-supported upper prosthesis whose diagnosis indicated loss of the implants due to bone loss, damaged implants and fractured screws inside them, with aesthetics compromised by a misaligned midline. The resolution was a single surgery consisting of the explantation of the pre-existing implants, placement of new implants and a new screw-retained implant-supported full prosthesis, which allows its removal for hygiene and for repair on the occasions this is needed. The patient thus recovered chewing function, comfort, confidence and his smile.

Case 4

A fully edentulous patient in the lower arch, rehabilitated with four implants, who by the date of the first appointment had already lost two of them due to infections. In the upper arch she had suffered trauma to tooth 21. The solution for this case was explantation of the remaining implants, bone regeneration and surgery to place new implants with an implant-mucosa-supported prosthesis. Combined with orthodontic treatment of the upper arch, to correct the problem of the anterior tooth and improve the periodontal prognosis, we restored chewing function, aesthetics and a part of the patient's life.

Case 5

The patient presented root fracture and infections in all the anterior teeth. The posterior implants presented generalised infections with consequent bone loss, which made their explantation and bone regeneration necessary before the placement of the new implants. After bone healing, implants and an immediate fixed prosthesis were placed so as to restore the patient's aesthetics, function and self-esteem.
